Job Description:
Assists the Surgical Services/Materials Management Scheduling Coordinator in the completion of assigned tasks specific to the needs of the department.
The Surgical Services Scheduler supports the needs of the Surgical Services Department by coordinating and maintaining an efficient and cost-effective surgical schedule.
The Surgical Services Scheduler assists with coordinating requested equipment, supplies and services.
Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education:
Position requires high school diploma.
Experience:
Two years of experience in a hospital or medical related field with use of computers and data entry functions.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Education:
High school diploma.
Bilingual preferred.
Experience:
Two to four years of experience in a hospital or medical related field with advanced knowledge of computers and data entry functions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information.
Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
Working knowledge of medical terminology to include CPT codes and ICD9 codes.
Have accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation skills necessary.
Proficient skills in Windows based software, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs.
Have excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers.
Have the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively in order to provide information and instruction.
Must be organized, flexible and a team player.
Demonstrate the ability to work in a stressful environment.
Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Demonstrate strong customer service orientation.
Meets unit, departmental and hospital needs in a cooperative and helpful manner, requesting help if needed without assigning blame to others verbally or by action.
